Indoor Play Spaces In The Boulder Area

After a couple of warm months, it’s finally starting to feel like winter. With the colder temperatures making their presence known, I have started thinking more about where I will bring my daughter when she needs to get some of her energy out and when we both need to get out of the house. I love the warmer months because I’m a huge fan of exploring playgrounds near us. Since going to the playground isn’t always an option, I wanted to do a list of indoor play spaces that we will be checking out this winter.

Great Play of Superior

Great Play is a fun gym for kids. Babies as young as 6-months can start taking classes here all the way up to age 10. My daughter took a class here last spring and loved it. When you are registered for classes, you can attend any of the open gym times throughout the week. Although we are not enrolled in a class right now, we have been going to Great Play for special playdates through my Mod Moms of Denver North membership. indoor-play-spaces-1

Mountain Kids Louisville

This is a great gymnastics gym in Louisville. We have been here for several playdates with Mod Moms. My daughter loves swinging on the rope and jumping in the foam pit. They offer gymnastics classes for babies from birth and up. If you are enrolled in classes, you also have free access to all of the Play and Learn Open Gyms for ages 0-6.

Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics

Xtreme Altitude is a gymnastics gym in Lafayette. In addition to gymnastics classes starting at 18-months and up, Xtreme offers an open gym for preschoolers called Preschool Open Play or POP. You do not need to be enrolled in classes at Xtreme to attend POP. Your first visit is free and then after that you can purchase a punch card for your visits. My daughter loves the trampolines at Xtreme and it’s a great way for her to tire herself out (as if that ever happens).

Boulder JCC

The Boulder JCC recently moved to a brand new facility. We haven’t visited yet, but we drove by recently and it looks amazing. I am still waiting to hear when the new tumbling room will officially be open. When it opens, it will be available for children aged 6-months to 5-years for open play times. It’s free for anyone enrolled in a number of their programs, but for guests it’s $5.00. indoor-play-space1

Gym Jam at South Boulder Rec Center

Last year this was where we spent most of our Mondays. Gym Jam is offered on Monday and Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30am. Kids from 9-months to 4-years-old can come play in the gym at the South Boulder Rec Center. They set up a variety of toys from bikes to kitchen play sets. The drop in rate is $5.00 per child.

A Mom’s Space

Located in Lafayette, A Mom’s Space is a place where moms can go to feel supported and have a sense of community. On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, they have drop in community hours from 12-4pm. That’s a time for moms to come socialize, watch their kids play in the play area, and get out of the house. The community hours are free. They also offer a wide variety of services from a postpartum support group to intuitive reading and healing sessions.

I know that there are more options out there, but these are some of my favorites. I’d love to hear about any other indoor play spaces you love in the comment section!

We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym Arvada opened in January. It is an all inclusive environment meaning all children of all abilities play together. The gym has sensory equipment that is geared towards helping children with special needs but is lots of fun for ALL kids! It offers something quite different from a typical kids play space. Zip line, swings, rock wall, rope wall, pretend play area, arts and crafts and a quiet room. Lots to do!
