Now that the monsoons of May and June are {fingers crossed} over, and we’re past the craziness of the 4th of July. You might be looking at your calendar and wondering, “Well NOW what?!

Outdoor Fun::

Indoor Play, Learning, and Activities::

  • Check out world class art exhibits and FREE youth admission at the Denver Art Museum.
  • Make sock puppets and put on a show.
  • Let the littles run around the spacious, multi-level play area in the APEX Center Clubhouse.
  • The Museum of Nature and Science has a Mythic Creatures exhibit that’s sure to please the whole family!

  • Visit the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden!
  • Make an indoor fort!
  • Cinemark’s $1 Summer Movie Clubhouse has a lineup of great films all summer long at various Cinemark locations!
  • Make Kinetic sand!
  • Get handy at a Kid’s Workshop at Home Depot {check website calendar for events}
  • Experience the great exhibits at the Denver Firefighter’s Museum– where your little one can learn all about our great local heroes!
  • Something for mama and the kiddos at BookBar’s Thursday Happier Hour! 1/2 off wine for mom and kids’ meals, and story time at 4:30!
  • Head over to Hammond’s Candy Factory to unlock your sweet tooth at their FREE factory tour!
  • Check out local Kids Bowl Free programs.
  • Tour the Colorado State Capitol building.
  • Don’t miss the pajama party, story time, snack and activity at Tattered Cover Colfax and Aspen Grove the last Friday of each month!
  • Burn some energy at one of the trampoline centers around town.

Wet and Wild::

The Denver metro area has tons of local spots for water fun!

  • Rent a boat at the Chatfield Or Horsetooth Reservoir!
  • Try Stand Up Paddleboarding.Centennial City Center Park
  • Splash around at Confluence Park in a kayak or a tube.
  • Pirates Cove Family Aquatic Center in Englewood is sure to please the whole family!
  • Set up a slip and slide with a tarp in your yard.
  • Let the kids run through the sprinklers while you water your yard!
  • Have a beach day at Bear Creek State Park!
  • Have a water balloon fight.
  • Splash pads for kids of all ages abound at Lakewood’s Surfside Spray Park.
  • Spend a day at one of the downtown water parks.

Fairs and Festivals::

  • Don’t miss the dragon boat races, marketplace, performances, food, and educational opportunities at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. July 18th and 19th at Sloans Lake
  • Film on the Rocks is a summer-long film festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Check their website for show dates!
  • Buffalo Bill Days– This annual celebration in Golden dates back to the 1940’s. Enjoy Cody’s Wild West show, the “Best of the West” Parade, Muttin’ Bustin’, live music, an orphan car and classic car show, and a golf tournament. The celebration runs July 22-26.
  • First Friday Art Walks– This fun summer event is held the first Friday of every month in the Denver arts district and makes for a great date night or a fun family stroll. The galleries stay open late and it turns into a street party. There are over 60 participating galleries and free shuttles to transport you around the area.
  • The “Craziest County Fair in America” {yes, that’s the Denver County Fair} runs July 31 – August 2nd this year.
  • The Colorado State Fair & Rodeo in Pueblo begins August 28th – mark your calendars now!
  • Taste of Colorado– Close out the summer by spending Labor Day weekend at this celebration in Civic Center Park on September 4th-7th. The celebration includes over 50 restaurants, 250 marketplace vendors, seven stages, and many educational programs.

Animal Encounters::

Get Your Groove On::

  • Swallow Hill Music presents awesome music concerts all over the metro area throughout the summer.
  • Check out the workshops, classes, and day-camps at Neighborhood Music Stapleton.
  • Head to City Park for Sunday night grooving to the weekly summer City Park Jazz
  • Crank up a family friendly Pandora station and bust a move with living room dance party!
  • Take a picnic dinner to the Denver Botanic Gardens and enjoy their Summer Concert Series.
  • Head to Boulder’s Chautauqua Park for a short hike and concert at Meadow Music – Monday evenings through August 17th!
