Top 5 Restaurants For Kids {And Their Parents} in The Highlands

I cook from time to time. No really, I do. But let’s face it, life as a working mom with a preschooler and a toddler means that I often rely on other people to prepare my food. I’m lucky to live in a neighborhood with tons of amazing local restaurants that are great for kids and parents alike. My criteria for the list below: They have highchairs (to trap the toddler), they serve booze (for mom and dad), and they have great food. Oh and they don’t mind cleaning up the mess my kids make (yes of course we tip).

So without further ado, and in no particular order, the top 5 restaurants for kids in the Highlands:

  1. Park Burger

A local favorite with apark_burger_storefront number of locations here in Denver, Park Burger serves up amazing burgers (my favorite is the turkey burger). The shakes are to die for, and my girls love that the kid’s meal comes with a tiny cone for dessert. We often ask them to make it very very tiny (to minimize the sugar high) and they always happily oblige. They’ll also completely forgo the cone if you prefer. Park Burger also has a great selection of local beers, fun cocktails, and my trusty Pinot Grigio. Don’t forget the truffle fries!

  1. Patzcuaro’s

Denver is known for some excellent Mexican food, and Patzcauro’s is no exception. This family-owned joint has been a Highland establishment for years. The food is delicious, and we love the big patio on a cool summer evening. Come hungry and be prepared for spicy!

  1. Fire on the Mountain

My preschooler asks for Fire on the Mountain by name on a regular basis. I’m guessing it has something to do with the A-MAH-ZING tater tots. These are the best tater tots in the world, and the sweet potato tots are an excellent second. I love the wide selection of salads, my husband loves the wings, and the girls love peeking out of the patio at the action on 32nd avenue. Fire on The Mountain keeps us coming back on a weekly basis.

  1. Parisi

Parisi is our regular Friday night hangout. This local Italian food restaurant recently underwent a stylish renovation, and we love the upscale feel of the food paired with an easygoing atmosphere. You line up to order and then sit and wait for food, so it can be a little confusing to newcomers, but trust me, the pizza salad and tomato soup are worth it.

  1. Tony P’s

Tony P’s is a must in Denver. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, they give the little ones their own piece of dough to play with, and the pizza is wonderful. We often order from Tony P’s, and the kids love to see their little Mini show up on the street, but dining in is a treat as well.

Have you tried any of these great Highlands eateries?  What’s your favorite neighborhood spot?

I love this list too. Your requirements make total sense. I actually think I’d put FOTM’s sweet potato tots as tied with their regular ones, but other than that I couldn’t agree more! 😉

Parisi was our favorite! We’re in the DTC now but it would still be worth a trip! Great list.
